The Hempfield Area School District, which is the largest in Westmoreland County with a resident population of over 49,000, covers approximately ninety-five square miles and lies thirty miles southeast of Pittsburgh.  The school district, comprised of Hempfield Township and the boroughs of Adamsburg, Hunker, Manor, New Stanton and Youngwood, surrounds the city of Greensburg

Harrold Middle School

Harrold Middle School is one of three middle schools in the Hempfield Area School District (Harrold, Wendover, and West Hempfield); the building is adjacent to the Hempfield Area Senior High School on Route 130 in Greensburg, PA.

Directions:  Route 30 West to West Newton exit. Turn right at exit onto Route 136. Stay on Route 136 going past Shop and Save and 711 Store until you reach fourth traffic light. Turn left at this light into entrance to school.

Hempfield Area Senior High

Hempfield Area High School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges. AP courses include: English, American History, Calculus, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, French V, and Spanish V. Honors courses are the highest level of academic courses and lead to Advanced Placement work.

Directions: Same directions as Harrold Middle School. Turn right at light into school. School is across from Harrold’s Middle School.

Crossroads

Crossroads is an alternative education school that is jointly operated by the Hempfield Area School District and Mt. Pleasant Area School District.  Each school district has students who are removed from their home school because of either parent request, discipline infractions or truancy violations. Historically these students were placed at privately operated schools that specialized in educating disruptive youths.

Directions: From PA Turnpike, take Irwin Exit 67 (old exit 7) onto Rte. 30 East.  About 8 miles from the Turnpike, take the Mt. Pleasant Exit.  At the stop sign, turn right.  Take the very next left, just past Our Lady of Grace Church, Ridge to Pellis Rd.  Turn right onto Santone Dr. and go to the top of the hill.  Turn right onto Rial Lane.  The school is on the left

Wendover Middle School

Directions:  From PA Turnpike, take Irwin Exit 67 (old exit 7) onto Rte. 30 East.   About 8 miles from the Turnpike, take the Mt. Pleasant Rd. Exit.  At the stop sign, turn right.  You will travel on Mt. Pleasant Rd. for approximately 2 miles.  You will   past the University of Pittsburgh campus and bear left at the sharp "Y" intersection just beyond the campus.   Proceed over the crest of the hill and turn left onto Westland Dr. (at the brick entry  wall into Wendover Plan). Go Straight on Westland.  Continue 6/10ths of a mile and turn left on Wendover Jr. High Rd. This will take you into the school complex.

Maxwell Elementary School

Renovated in 2001, Maxwell Elementary School is brimming with outstanding classes, activities, teachers, and volunteer parents. Committed to educational excellence, Maxwell serves approximately 408 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Maxwell houses the Hempfield Enrichment Program for Grades 3-5.

Directions: Main Street in Greensburg towards Delmont. Main Street becomes Route 66 North. Follow approximately 2 miles to traffic light by Shop & Save Supermarket. Turn right at light then make left on Old Salem Road and follow to school.

Stanwood Elementary School

Located eight miles southwest of Greensburg and five miles due south of Hempfield High School in New Stanton Borough,  Stanwood Elementary School is committed to educational excellence. Stanwood serves approximately 600 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth.  Our cadre of teachers and support staff numbers approximately 68.

Directions:  Take Route 119 South through Youngwood towards New Stanton. Exit onto 66 toll road bypass. Take first exit onto Arona Road, at end of exit, make right at stop sign. Make left onto Arona Road. School is ½ mile on right side across from Vo-Tech.

West Hempfield Elementary School

Located in Irwin Pennsylvania, West Hempfield Elementary School was renovated in 2002. Our school is comprised of outstanding classes, rewarding activities, self-motivated teachers, and dedicated volunteer parents. Committed to Educational Excellence, West Hempfield Elementary serves approximately 615 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth.

Directions:  Follow Route 30 West towards Irwin. Make a left at the last light before the turnpike entrance (BP station). Continue to four way stop sign and turn right. School is about 1/2 mile down this road on the left side.

West Hempfield Middle School

West Hempfield Middle School was completely renovated and updated for the start of the 2003-2004 school year.  Students participate in a variety of district, regional, state, and national academic, vocational, artistic, and athletic competitions, winning numerous awards and championships annually.

Directions:  Same directions as West Hempfield Elementary School. Take Wendel Road past West Hempfield Elementary School and bear left into the housing plan. Turn left onto Northumberland Road and follow to school.

Bovard Elementary School

Located in the north eastern section of Hempfield, Bovard Elementary is a "child-centered" school always striving to provide the best educational program for all students. Committed to excellence in education Bovard serves approximately 250 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth.

Directions: From PA Turnpike, take Irwin Exit 67 (old exit 7) onto Rte. 30 East.  About 10 miles from the Turnpike, at the Westmoreland Mall, turn left at the red light, onto Donohue Rd.  Bear right onto Donohue Rd. and at the red light turn left (Goodwill Building).  Stay on the main road until you come to a red light.  Turn right onto Rte. 119 North, go 500 yards and take the next right.  The school is 1 mile on the left.

Fort Allen Elementary School

Fort Allen Elementary was completely renovated in 2000 - 2001. Up graded school facilities include an enlarged library with internet access and computerized library catalogue, a 36 station computer lab, full size gym  with a stage, well equipped art and music rooms, remolded cafeteria, a spacious nurse's suite, conference room, and modern office space as well as 27 full size classrooms and and a number of smaller rooms for specialized instruction.

Directions: From PA Turnpike, take Irwin Exit 67 (old exit 7) onto Rte. 30 East.  About 6 miles from the turnpike, take the West Newton Road Exit.  At the stop sign, turn right onto Rte. 136.  About 3 miles, at the red light (by the bank) turn left onto Baltzer Meyer Pike.  About 1/4 mile, the school is on the left.  

 

West Point Elementary School

West Point Elementary School, which was renovated in 2001, is brimming with outstanding classes, activities, teachers, and volunteer parents. Committed to educational excellence, West Point serves approximately 410 students in grades kindergarten through fifth.

Directions: Follow same directions for Wendover Middle School until you get to Wendover School. Go thru stop sign. Turn next right onto Salisbury Drive. School is at the end of the street.
