Transportation in Hempfield Township, PA

Hempfield Township is part of the service area of the Westmoreland County Transit Authority. 

Westmoreland Transit provides a variety of bus route services throughout Westmoreland County.  The Transit Center is located at 41 Bell Way in downtown Greensburg, two blocks west of the Westmoreland County courthouse.

In addition to fixed route bus services, Westmoreland Transit offers several special service transportation programs, including:

Senior Free Transit Program

The Senior Free Transit Program is made possible through funding by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The program offers free public bus transportation for senior citizens ages 65 and over.  Learn more on the Westmoreland Transit website.

Reduced Fare Transit Program

The Reduced Fare Transit Program enables persons with disabilities to ride a public bus for one-half of the regular fare.  Learn more on the Westmoreland Transit website.

Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP)

Westmoreland Transit coordinates the Medical Assistance Transportation Program in Westmoreland County. This program, which is funded through the Department of Public Welfare, provides free transportation to medical appointments for residents of Westmoreland County who possess a valid Welfare Medical Card.  Learn more on the Westmoreland Transit website.

Americans With Disabilities (ADA) Complementary Paratransit Program

The ADA Complementary Paratransit Program provides transportation for individuals whose disability prevents them from using a public bus. The service is provided by taxi and “mirrors” the public bus service. Westmoreland Transit provides public bus service within Westmoreland County to the following areas: Boroughs: Avonmore, Delmont, Derry, East Vandergrift, Export, Irwin, Ligonier, Mt. Pleasant, Manor, New Florence, New Stanton, Scottdale, Seward, Vandergrift, Youngwood Townships: Allegheny, Bell, Derry, Hempfield, Ligonier, Mt. Pleasant, North Huntingdon, Penn, St. Clair, Sewickley, Unity, Washington Cities: Arnold, Greensburg, Jeannette, Lower Burrell, New Kensington, Latrobe Municipality: Murrysville Service is also provided to downtown Pittsburgh and eastern Allegheny County, as well as to Cambria County.
