Zoning Amendments up for Public Review

Hempfield Township is currently in the process of amending its zoning ordinance.  To keep you up-to-date, information about the new zoning districts, both residential and commercial, will be made available on this website at our Zoning Amendment 2010 page.

The Township is going to have a series of meetings to engage the public in the process. The meetings will be specific to zoning classifications. The meeting schedule is as follows (All meetings take place at the Hempfield Township Building):  

• September 15th, 2010 - Agricultural Amendments Review - 7:00 PM
• September 29th, 2010 - Commercial/Industrial Amendments Review - 7:00 PM
• October 6th, 2010 - Signage/Residential Amendments Review - 7:00 PM
• November 15th, 2010 - Public Hearing- 7:00 PM.  The Public Hearing will be the final opportunity for the public to put forth its opinions and comments on the amendment process prior to final adoption.

New Township Maps

Updated multi-colored road maps of Hempfield Township will be available by the end of September. The maps will include a street list to assist in locating the many roads encompassing the Township. Every household in the Township will receive a free map by mail at their residence. As you may be aware, the maps had to be revised as part of the county-wide re-addressing project which re-named or created new names for a large number of public and private roads, not to mention add all of the new housing and commercial developments in Hempfield Township.

The new map also includes information about a variety of aspects of your local government including the offices of the sewage authority, taxes, refuse service, public works, parks and recreation, etc.
