Park Reservations

2010 Reservations for Hempfield residents will be taken beginning Monday, February 8, 2010 on a first come, first served basis at the Hempfield Township Athletic Center.  Non-Resident may make reservations starting February 22, and pay an additional $50.

Hempfield Park

Hempfield Park is located in northern Hempfield Township just off Route 66 about 4 miles north of downtown Greensburg. The park is open to the public daily from 9:00 am to dusk. Pavilion reservations are from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. All pavilions are handicapped accessible.

Directions to Hempfield Park

From PA Turnpike

  • Pa Turnpike to Exit 8 – New Stanton.
  • Stay in left lane to Route 119 North (1/2 Mile) to Toll 66 North.
  • Follow Toll 66 to exit 9 (Harrison City/Greensburg).
  • At the end of the ramp make a right on to 66 toward Greensburg.
  • Go approximately, 1/2 mile, make a left at the Fire Department.(There is a sign for Hempfield Park).
  • Take the first right onto Forbes Road, go up steep hill.
  • Park is on the right.
  • Use main entrance parking lot near the flagpole or parking lots near tennis courts and sports field complex.

From Toll 66 - Delmont

  • Follow Toll 66 to exit 9 (Harrison City/Greensburg).
  • At the end of the ramp, make a left on to 66 toward Greensburg.
  • Go approximately, 1/2 mile, make a left at the Fire Department.(There is a sign for Hempfield Park).
  • Take the first right onto Forbes Road, go up steep hill.
  • Park is on the right.
  • Use main entrance parking lot near the flagpole or parking lots near tennis courts and sports field complex.

From Downtown Greensburg

  • Take Rt. 66 N (Main St.) go thru traffic light at Shop N' Save.
  • Continue about 2 miles, turn right just past N. Hempfield Fire Department onto old Rt.66.
  • Take the first right onto Forbes Road, go up steep hill.
  • Park is on the right.
  • Use main entrance parking lot near the flagpole or parking lots near tennis courts and sports field complex.

  • Five pavilions for rent

Outdoor Walking Track at Hempfield Park - Bring a friend and enjoy the peaceful wooded trail (approx. one mile in length). Park is open 9:00 am to dusk.

Indoor Walking Track at Hempfield Township Athletic Complex - One lap around the indoor two-lane track equals approx. 1/10th of a mile. Building will be open as early as 8:00 am. FREE TO ALL WALKERS!

Resident Rental Fees:

Entire Park: $ 725 Monday through Thursday
Entire Park: $ 750 Friday through Sunday
Groups of 350/larger MUST reserve entire park
Fee is required to be paid in full at time of application for rental of the Entire Park.  Fee includes a refundable $ 150 security deposit.

Pavilion rentals:

Pavilion A & E (Large) with kitchen - Approx. 325 capacity:
$ 275 Friday through Sunday
$ 250 Monday through Thursday

Pavilion D (Medium) - Approx. 200 capacity
$ 200 Friday through Sunday
$ 175 Monday through Thursday

Pavilion B & C (Small) - Approx. 100 capacity
$ 175 Friday through Sunday
$ 150 Monday through Thursday

Fee is required to be paid in full at time of application of rental of Pavilions A, B, C, D, & E.
Fee includes $ 75 refundable security deposit.

Non-residents pay an additional $50 to the resident reservation fee.

All reservations are first come, first served at the Recreation office.

Reduced fee requests:

Reduced fee requests must be sent in the form of a letter to the Commission.  The Commission will review the letters for approval.
$ 25 + $ 100 security deposit per day/per pavilion

Swede Hill Park

Swede Hill Park is located on Willow Crossing Road in central Hempfield Township.  The park is open to the public daily from 9:00 am to dusk.

Directions to Swede Hill Park and Legget Field

  • From Greensburg, follow Route 119 South to the traffic signal at Kings Restaurant.
  • Turn RIGHT and follow Willow Crossing Road up the hill and through an S curve.
  • Swede Hill Park will be on your right.

This park has:

  • A basketball court
  • A volleyball court
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Play equipment
  • Soccer field
  • Ball field
  • Building with kitchen facilities for rent

Swede Hill Park Rental Fees


 

Resident Rental Fees:

Entire Park: $ 375 Monday through Sunday
Community Building/Shared Park Usage: $ 200 Monday through Sunday

Fee is required to be paid in full at time of application for rental of the Entire Park.
Fee includes a refundable $ 75 security deposit.

Resident and Non-resident Evening Building Rentals:

$ 50 - 6:00 - 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday
$ 25 each additional hour up to 11:00 pm
Non-residents pay an additional $ 50 to the resident reservation fee.
