American Red Cross Swimming Instruction (Ages 6 months - Age 17)

Location: Hempfield High School Swimming Pool

Pre-registration required. Swimming skills and safety in the water for all ages. Participants must be of age before class begins. (Goggles are permitted...Swim caps required for girl beginner level and up).

• Babies with Parents: Parent or guardian must participate with child under age 4. Pediatrician permission required for babies 0-6 months.
• Pre-Swim: For ages 4-5 who do not have previous instructional experience.
• Advanced Pre-Swim: For ages 4-5 who can float front and back by him/herself and who is comfortable in deep water.
• Advanced Beginners/Intermediates/Swimmers: For ages 6-17 who have passed the previous American Red Cross level.
• Adult Learn to Swim: Adult instruction
• Lifeguard Certification (offered in Spring and Winter only): Ages 15 and up. Must pass swimming pre-test, attend ALL classes, pass test at end. Books purchased at an additional cost. Call 724-771-3655 for details.
• Water Safety Instructor: Ages 16 and up. Lifeguard certification not required.

Sunday (10 weeks): January 15 - March 18
Beginners: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Adv Beginners/Intermediate: 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm 
Pre-Swim / Adv Pre-Swim: 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Babies with Parents: 3:30 pm – 4:00 pm 
Resident Fee: $ 45
Non-Resident Fee:  $ 55
Limit: 20

Water Safety Instructor (Ages 16 & up)

Lifeguarding not required. Possible job placement. Must attend a FIT class. Additional cost for books upon registration.

FIT Class: Friday, January 13, 5:00-9:00 pm
                  Hempfield Township Municipal Building
Time: Sunday, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
           Hempfield High School
(10 weeks) January 15 - March 18
Fee: None required/Cost for American Red Cross books only

Family Swim

Open pool time for families. Lane will be open for those wishing to swim laps. Hempfield residents only. (Must be immediate family members and reside in same household).

Time: Friday, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
(8 weeks) January 20 to March 9
Resident Fee: $30 per family
Limit: 14 families

Adult Learn to Swim (Ages 15 & up)

Adult instruction. No diving permitted.

Time: Friday, 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
(8 weeks) January 20 to March 9
Resident Fee: $ 40
Non-Resident Fee: $ 50
Limit: 20 participants

Lifeguard Certification (Ages 15 & up)

Prepare for possible summer employment before it's too late. Must pass swimming pretest, attend all classes, and pass test at end. Books purchased at additional cost.

Time: Sunday, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
