Volunteer Opportunities

Consider Coaching

There are hundreds of boys and girls that participate in youth sports every year in Hempfield Township. One measure of success in these programs is the number of people, including parents, who volunteer as coaches and assistant coaches.

Unfortunately, many people do not get involved because they feel a lack of knowledge about that particular sport. We conduct Hempfield Recreation programs on a "participation" philosophy. We feel it is more important for all youths to play and enjoy the sport, rather than to win at all costs.

We never measure success in wins and losses. Youth coaches do not need experience, only the willingness and enthusiasm to coach. Kids and coaches alike should have fun. Coaching is a fulfilling aspect of any sport, especially youth sports.

If you are interested in coaching, please complete the online volunteer application. This must be completed for each sport season.

All volunteer coaches are required to have their most recent Act 153 - PA Child Abuse Clearances, PA State Police Background Check, and Department of Human Services Fingerprints, if lived outside of the state of Pennsylvania anytime in the past 10 years.  All clearances must have been obtain sometime within the past 3 years. Please complete a volunteer application if interested in coaching. Once completed, you will receive more information on how to complete your needed clearances.
