Youth Volunteers

SEARCHING FOR RECREATION YOUTH VOLUNTEERS (Ages 12 & older)

If you are looking to fulfill some needed community service hours or just want to help out with recreational events, contact us at the Recreation Office today. Our volunteers will be working with children‘s programs and special events such as Hempfield's Community Days. This is your chance to gain valuable work experience as well as contribute to exciting events.

Parental Involvement - Consider Coaching

There are hundreds of boys and girls that participate in youth sports every year in Hempfield Township.  One measure of success in these programs is the number of parents who volunteer as coaches and assistant coaches.  Unfortunately, many parents do not get involved because they feel a lack of knowledge about that particular sport.

We conduct Hempfield Recreation programs on a "participation" philosophy.  We feel it is more important for all youths to play and enjoy the sport, rather than to win at all costs.  We never measure success in wins and losses. 

Youth coaches do not need experience, only the willingness and enthusiasm to coach.  Kids and coaches alike should have fun.  Coaching is a fulfilling aspect of any sport, especially youth sports.
