General Information

Hundreds of boys and girls participate in youth sports every year in Hempfield Township.  One measure of success is the number of parents who volunteer as coaches and assistant coaches.

Many parents do not get involved because they feel a  lack of knowledge. However, if they did get involved, more kids could participate.  We conduct Hempfield Recreation programs on a “participation” philosophy.

We feel it is more important for all youths to play and enjoy the sport, rather than to win at all costs. We never measure success in wins and loses. Youth sports coaches do not need experience, only the willingness and enthusiasm to coach. Learn more on our Volunteer page, or call 724-836-7900 x 124 or x125 for more info. i

Kids and coaches alike should have fun. Coaching is a fulfilling aspect of any sport, especially youth sports.

Sports League Registration Policy

All players in league sports must register prior to the listed deadline. Players registering between the deadline and team drafts or first league games, whichever comes first, will be placed on a waiting list. NO registrations will be accepted on or after team draft or first league game.
