Volunteer Opportunities
Hempfield Township has various volunteer opportunities through the Fire Department, and Parks and Recreation. More information for each opportunity can be found by clicking on the included links.
Volunteer Fire Department

We are in serious need of your special talents, skills, and abilities to help staff our fire stations.

- Junior Firefighter: Ages 14 - 17, working papers are required from your school
- Senior membership: Ages 18 and up, requires successful completion of a physical and background clearances

This is an opportunity to assist during situations that impact your community during major incidents that impact our community. For more information visit facebook.com/
All volunteers are required to have their most recent Act 153 - Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearances, Pennsylvania State Police Background Check, and Department of Human Services Fingerprints.
Exception: if you have lived within Pennsylvania for the last consecutive 10 years.
Volunteer Coaches Needed
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteer coaches who are interested in teaching youth sports. Our program goal is to create a positive environment that promotes self-confidence and self-esteem through the experiences we provide. The program is dedicated to providing all youth with the highest quality of recreation and educational experiences.
There are hundreds of boys and girls that participate in youth sports every year in Hempfield Township. One measure of success in these programs is the number of people, including parents, who volunteer as coaches and assistant coaches.
Unfortunately, many people do not get involved because they feel a lack of knowledge about that particular sport. We conduct Hempfield Recreation programs on a participation philosophy. We feel it is more important for all youth to play and enjoy the sport, rather than to win at all costs. We never measure success in wins and losses. Youth coaches do not need experience, only the willingness and enthusiasm to coach. Kids and coaches alike should have fun. Coaching is a fulfilling aspect of any sport, especially youth sports.
If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please complete a volunteer application. All volunteers must obtain all clearances in accordance with Act 153. Within the volunteer application, you will have an opportunity to obtain all necessary clearances, or upload any current clearances you may have previously obtained.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
If you are looking to fulfill some needed community service hours or just want to help out with recreational events, we encourage you to get involved. Our volunteers will be working with children‘s programs and special events. This is your chance to gain valuable work experience as well as contribute to exciting events.
